From the moment we learn that we are going to become parents, we are swept into a whirlwind of emotions that intensify as we move through the journey of parenthood. We face challenges, step into the unknown, and experience overwhelming joy the first time we hold our baby in our arms. Yet, there is no manual to guide us through the monumental task of raising our children. <\/p>\n
Along this journey, we encounter countless parenting books and approaches, each offering different advice. Today, however, I would like to share the meaningful impact that two books had on my life as a mother: Kiss Me Lots by Spanish pediatrician Carlos Gonz\u00e1lez, and The Whole-Brain Child by Dan Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson. <\/p>\n
Both books emphasize a fundamental idea: the expressions of love we offer our children are essential\u2014especially during the early years, when their brains are still developing and not yet fully integrated. In this context, everyday actions such as hugging, holding our children, making eye contact when they speak, and truly listening to their stories help create neural connections that shape future patterns of behavior. <\/p>\n
In early childhood, a child\u2019s language is expressed through loving contact: hugs, kisses, and shared experiences of the world around them. Being truly present in our children\u2019s lives becomes essential in helping them integrate more confidently into their environment. <\/p>\n
From my own experience as a mother, through the challenges and difficulties we face, giving meaning to these moments\u2014both for our children and for ourselves\u2014allows us to weave a bond of love that not only strengthens family ties, but also nurtures the flourishing of a developing human being.<\/p>\n
School also plays a vital role in children\u2019s development, complementing the foundation built at home. By focusing not only on academic learning but also on emotional and social growth, schools contribute significantly to the development of well-balanced individuals who are prepared to face life\u2019s challenges. Collaboration between home and school creates an enriching environment that enhances children\u2019s overall growth. <\/p>\n
