One day, while I was at home feeling overwhelmed by an unfamiliar blue monster, I was surprised to feel a small, curious hand resting on my chest, inviting me to identify how I was feeling: Mom, is it anger? Fear? Sadness? Does your heart hurt?<\/p>\n
With a gentle invitation to his \u201cCalm Corner,\u201d located in our living room, I pointed to the drawing of the creature that represents sadness. \u201cBreathe, Mom,\u201d my four-year-old son reminded me once again that, with a little time, I would turn green\u2014feel green\u2014like the calm monster.<\/p>\n
Through ups and downs, we have created a more open and safe space at home. The emotional education my son receives in the classroom has transformed our communication into a clear and friendly language.<\/p>\n
For most of my professional life, I have worked in education. I believe that education is the only true hope for transforming the society we live in. I consider it essential to choose a nurturing educational model from the earliest years of life, known as the Early Years.<\/p>\n
During these early ages, the foundation of identity development and social skills is naturally formed. I wanted to find, for my son, a modern and engaging way of learning that gave equal importance to emotions and the brain.<\/p>\n
I must confess that one of my first expectations as a mother was to make it through the \u201cterrible twos and threes\u201d as smoothly as possible. In this first-time-mom fantasy, I chose an educational community that valued emotional sensitivity as much as I did.<\/p>\n
We are social beings, and emotional intelligence is not only a personal effort but a collective one. That once-feared stage did not turn out so badly when teachers and psychopedagogists supported us as a family. They helped my son identify, feel, and respond assertively through strategies, tools, games, books, and drawings.<\/p>\n
That was when I realized I was in the right place. Here, children can develop emotional intelligence from the very first years of life. I truly believe it is important to experience this educational approach that goes beyond the traditional model\u2014an exciting journey toward growth and deeper connection with those we love most.<\/p>\n
