I finish this seminar feeling deeply grateful, reflective, and committed. At first, I thought it would be more theoretical, as if I were going to be told the ABCs of how to manage children\u2019s behavior and emotions. However, from the very first session, it truly resonated with me to remember that human beings are shaped by many factors that develop over time. As mothers, fathers, and adults responsible for the children of this generation, the most important place to begin is with ourselves. <\/p>\n
I learned that there is always hope and that we never stop learning. In my case, as a mother of two children\u2014one in preschool and a daughter with a health condition that brings physical and emotional challenges for her and for our entire family\u2014I realized that I need to keep working on my listening, my patience, and the grieving process I am going through. <\/p>\n
One of the most eye-opening lessons was learning about the different types of stress. I recognize that my personality and circumstances often lead me to experience high levels of stress, which I inevitably pass on to my children. Being able to distinguish between positive, tolerable, and toxic stress has helped me become more aware of the moment when it stops being helpful and begins to affect us. <\/p>\n
I also reflected on the importance of creating meaningful family moments that don\u2019t necessarily have to be expensive or elaborate. Very often, the simplest moments are the ones where I feel the most genuine connection with my children. <\/p>\n
When it comes to managing emotions, I am still working on validating what my children feel and being mindful of what lies behind their behavior. I especially appreciated a simple chart that was shared with us, which helps parents respond thoughtfully instead of reacting impulsively to behaviors we often label as \u201cbad.\u201d <\/p>\n
This learning connected deeply with the session on emotional regulation. Sometimes we are truly emotionally illiterate. I strongly believe that the wider our emotional vocabulary becomes, the better we will be able to express what we feel and help our children do the same. <\/p>\n
I learned how to guide them when a situation makes them feel uncomfortable: validating what they feel, identifying whether the situation can be changed, and when it cannot, supporting them through the emotions that arise. Tools such as the bee breathing technique for children and the STOP technique for adults have been incredibly valuable; in fact, I have already used them several times. <\/p>\n
Becoming aware of what triggers me emotionally and working on my own self-regulation is essential if I want my children to develop that same ability.<\/p>\n
The final session, focused on grief, brought this experience to a deeply human close. We all experience grief throughout our lives, especially when we lose a loved one. Listening and reflecting on this topic was especially meaningful for me after the recent passing of my father and seeing the different ways each member of my family expresses their pain. It helped me greatly to understand that what I am feeling is completely normal. <\/p>\n
I truly enjoyed all the activities in the seminar, especially the one about words of encouragement. Today I carry with me phrases that I repeat in my mind and in my heart\u2014reminders that we are sensitive human beings, each with our own story, yet united by the need to heal and connect with others. <\/p>\n
My plans for growth include continuing to study the seminar materials, putting them into practice consistently, and encouraging other mothers to participate. Professionally, as a psychologist, I will also integrate these insights into my work with clients. <\/p>\n
I am deeply grateful that this initiative has reached the Harmony community and that I had the opportunity to be part of this seminar. I sincerely hope it continues to reach many more generations. My heartfelt thanks and congratulations to the entire team. <\/p>\n
